It's a nice day for a green wedding

Green-tings
Did you know...
The average wedding in the USA cost $20,000.

Zikes a B! In this economy this kind of seems insane, and not worth it!

Want to still hold a fantastic wedding, but can't afford to spend $20,000? Why don't you consider going green!

Here are some ideas for creating a green wedding

• Hold your wedding outdoors in a nature reserve, private garden, courtyard, state park or vintage location..etc. Really the possibilities are endless and usually will cost you little to no money! This is the view from Presque Isle Park Gazebo in MQT Michigan LOVE IT!

• Consider a potluck or BBQ instead of a catered meal. This is seriously a hot trend now, and you can have family and friends make some of your favorite food. Make sure you and the groom supply some food too though!

• Paperless invites! The internet is a great tool and you can send your guest e-vites. Some websites have some fabulous e-vites that you can create! www.evite.com has some fabulous ones.

• Grow your own flowers! Plant some seeds a few months ahead of time or consider going to a farmers market and getting flowers.

• Cakes can cost an insane amount of money! What about getting together with some of your girlfriends and baking cupcakes. Quick and easy and a whole lot of fun! You can find fabulous cupcake stands to display your cupcakes on!

• Save some money on the honeymoon! Instead of spending an insane amount of money on a far away trip lower your stress and the amount of cash by honeymooning somewhere within a 100-miles. I know in Michigan we have a lot of fabulous places that you can go to and feel like you've left the state! Bed and breakfast are always great too!

Would you ever consider doing any of these things when planning your wedding?

My Mum is making my wedding cake, and I am completely excited about it. She makes fabulous cakes. However this is saving me a ton of money I went this route as more of a sentimental value.

My wedding is in Michigan, and right after the wedding we will be having a "staycation" honeymoon. We have picked out three fabulous places in Michigan that we would love to stay for a couple days after the wedding. It'll save us a lot of money since we aren't going on a crazy expensive trip. Plus we'll still be able to have great views and lots of fun.
